New strain of Covid attacking children en masse and all I see on the telly are stadiums packed to the rafters with fans?
Granted, there is a lot of confusion over the whole vaccination thing, but you can’t deny the fact that there are kids getting sick and dying. It seemed like there was some progress being made in getting our country on board with getting vaccinated, and as soon as it hit right around 50% it started slowing down considerably.
You see, there are approximately 50% Republicans and approximately 50% Democrats in our country and as long as neither side wants to entertain the slightest notion of conciliatory dialogue, the vax rate will teeter right along as other strains appear and cull even more from the herd as we deny to ourselves and our children the right to continue living a quality life here on planet Earth.
Our quality of life improved dramatically today as I was able to get my TV hooked up just in time for the football games.
I will be starting off tomorrow with my Man U clash with West Ham and I am hoping our arsenal of striking firepower will further distance us from the Hammers as they always play us tough all the way to the final minute of every match.
I will be interested to see if there are many resultant cases of Covid as sports continue to pack ‘em in.
I am hoping there are not, so a return to “normalcy” is not only possible, but imminent.
My Fighting Irish had to struggle again this week with old rival Purdue. If they keep playing as they have been, I predict we will lose two games this season.
I hope I am wrong.
As far as the NFL games, I am thinking the Rams could be dangerous if they can keep Matthew Stafford upright and injury-free.
And then there are the Kansas City Chiefs.
Baseball becomes a bit of an afterthought this time of year with both the college and pro football seasons starting back up and basketball season looming on the horizon.
Ryder Cup coming up and with the way the American golfers look, I think that although my heart is with the Yanks, I believe this Cup will be won by the Europeans.
Not sure of what to think of the movie Attack on the Capitol II. Coming soon to a news TV screen or movie theater near you. It sounds like another golden opportunity for the American government (and political process) to embarrass themselves on the global stage.
I also really did miss The Emmy Award show and quite frankly, unless they trotted out some of the old buzzards to present, I had no idea who all these new actors are.
One good thing about being unable to get our TV for a couple months is we can see all kind of movies we haven’t seen yet on Netflix.
Enjoy your Sunday and pray for ALL of us.
We need it.
