Since I wrote my last song.
Here it is (let me know what you think):
Gone
Verse 1
She dropped off the kids at her mother’s
Took out half the cash from the bank
She cleaned the house from top to bottom
Washed the truck and even filled the tank
Chorus
Out of sight, not out of mind
She left our whole damn life behind
Searching for a greener pasture she’ll never find
Gone like the fire in the sky
In the blink of an eye
And the damage she left behind
I’m all turned out and bat-shit crazy
I still wish she were mine
Verse 2
She picked up her last paycheck
Cleaned and pressed her waitress gear
Set them gently on the counter
Told her boss “John, I’m outta here”
Chorus
Then she was gone
Out of sight, not out of mind
She left our whole damn life behind
Searching for a greener pasture she’ll never find
Gone like the fire in the sky
And the damage she left behind
I’m all turned out and bat-shit crazy
I still wish she were mine
Verse 3
The last I heard she stopped by
Didn’t even have the courtesy to call
I don’t think that I deserve this
Truth is, I’m better off after all
Chorus
Since she’s been gone
Out sight and out of mind
She left our whole damn world behind
Searching for a greener pasture she’ll never find
Gone like the fire in the sky
In the blink of an eye
And the damage she left behind
I’m all turned out and bat-shit crazy
I still wish she were mine
I will post a recording of the song when I wake up early…
Okay, so I am not the most prolific songwriter, but I am proud of all my songs. If you want to access my musical posts, wake and bake jam sessions, just go to the new page Clips, Vids and Booking on my website marksplayhouse.com.
What else has happened in the past thirty years?
The world is a darker place.
Thank God there are more good people than bad.
I truly believe that, having travelled the world, including many of our own beautiful states.
What do I mean when I say “bad”?
Distrustful.
Mean.
How hard is it to be nice?
Why would you not want to be nice unless you are just some asshole who is taking up good oxygen that a tree could use?
You can go bye-bye.
My heart follow up was good on all fronts. And there were many fronts due to the seven, count ‘em, seven, stents that were inserted in my body to keep my blood flowing.
I am going golfing tomorrow, weather permitting. Hell, I’m going even if it rains a little. I love playing in a little rain.
If it is raining hard, I will stay inside and see if I have another new song in my noodle. They usually come in bunches. At least they did thirty years ago.
Everything came in bunches thirty years ago.
Stay well.
