A guy serves in the Army for 12 years and decides to quit, foregoing a promotion and more benefits to provide “more stability” for his family.
The only thing “unstable” when you are a military dependent is the travelling involved. Yes, it was a pain having to be uprooted every three or four years and transferred to another state or country, but I saw things people only read about.
We never had gangs or drugs or violence on any of the military bases we were stationed at, and I don’t ever remember hearing of ONE murder committed.

I usually just accept professional tennis defeats as just part of the great game, but man, it was tough watching Iga Swiatek just absolutely break American Amanda Anisimova’s spirit and game in a 6-0 6-0 whitewashing in the Wimbledon Ladies Singles Championship.
Anisimova need not hang her head, especially after showing her mettle in defeating world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals.
Swiatek just had too much of, well, everything, for Anisimova who never got solid footing in the match from the opening game which was a break of her serve.
I honestly do not remember her making but ONE first serve in the entire match.
Maybe two.
A northern California (of course!) police department has asked the criminals that it services, to please wait until it’s not so hot outside to commit any crimes.
As stupid as that sounds, it makes sense.
