The experts in blogging know that I have done nothing right in constructing and marketing my blog. I suppose the main reason is I did not start out screaming for attention to have my words read by other people and I certainly had no concept of actually making money doing it.
My personal blog plan has always been:
The fact that there are 98 other people out there from about 30 different countries reading my words is way cool. It may pale in comparison to the numbers posted by professional bloggers, but I think of it in terms of standing in line behind 98 others, or getting a group of 100 people in a meeting room.
Then it seems like a lot.
They (people who know way more than I) say that the first 100 followers are the hardest to get to check out your blog, and I am now at 98 and counting.
I can’t drink anymore, but you can bet the house on the fact I will have a bowl or two to celebrate when I hit the century mark.
Now I have to figure out how to get more readers to comment and interact with me. I guess I have to dispel my misconceptions as I equate asking someone to “like” a post, for example to how companies on line will give you a discount or bonus of some kind if only you hit the “like” button on their ad.
I actually thought if I just keep posting well-written and hopefully entertaining blogs I would be fine. I have posted over 200 blogs since starting and I think I have received ONE comment. It was a nice one, too.
Another thing I am going to start to do is comment on other blogsites. I look at many blogs for structure and other ideas, but I don’t offer my two cents of an opinion. “They” tell me I am all wrong, so I will start trying it.
My stubborn-ass way has allowed for growth, but excruciatingly slow growth.
Don’t get me wrong, just because I started out with zero expectations, the fact that I am approaching such a meaningful milestone means even more to me.
So, thank you for following and reading.
And please, let me know what’s on your mind.
We are now completing our house cleaning for the showing which will begin later today and it is starting to hit me I will be leaving my beautiful Arizona, probably only to return to visit friends and get in some winter golf.
Our wedding anniversary is on next Monday, 6/21, and it will be our 34th.
In a lifetime of bad decisions, that one I got right.
So, wherever you are, I wish upon you all the best this world has to offer, because (my hippie side just won’t die) we are truly a brotherhood and sisterhood of men and women and when you think about it, we are the last line of defense against an alien invasion and the extinction of humankind.
