Freedom of Speech

The first amendment and all that.

I have been banned from Facebook because of a story I previously published here on this blog. It was excerpted from my book EMOTIONS: Not your Mama’s ABC’s!

Talk about small-minded.

I tried to explain to the “Appeal Board” that my words were a creative work of fiction, but they weren’t biting even though the positive comments far outnumbered what was still evidently enough of a negative backlash that my words, however eloquent and persuasive, fell upon deaf ears.

So I will continue my writing odyssey through this blog, my conduit for the crazy shit that runs through my head.

They kick ME off Facebook and I have seen some stuff on FB that will gross you out; pictures of dead animals, dead people, I mean, come on…

But my words get me booted.

I might have been OK if I had not placed the heading “A Mother’s Day gift from Maddogg” on the picture. The “board” also did not care to hear of my diatribe on the creative writing process and just how it relates to the first amendment.

That’s when the line went dead and they were done.

Granted, it is a shocking story and if you’re not ready for it….

I actually feel that it is one of the better stories in my book.

I have often been asked my writing style, and I like to think of it as “taking the genres of the short story, and even the short-short story, and distilling them even further to deliver maximum emotional impact with an economy of words.”

There it is in a nutshell.

So like that, my online voice is no more.

So my wife, the infamous Domestic Despot, told me that I am the only person she ever knew who was banished from Facebook and was asked to leave the city of Las Vegas at the advice of my high-priced mouthpiece who was relaying the dictum (it was in no way, shape, or form, a request) from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

I had emptied my entire savings account to pay to get me off of numerous charges and damned if he didn’t pull it off for me.

But I did take his advice.

I left town the next day.

This ended one of the great runs of hedonism and recklessness in my life and I chronicle the “wild ride” I took in 1981 which was the final straw, so to speak, and the main reason my run came to an end.

As ignominious as the finale was, I wouldn’t trade those years for anything.

I ended up doing things that you can only read about.

Some of the stories in my book are actually true.

I will resume writing my daily blog as I continue to creep up on making one thousand posts on my blog.

I will also have much more time available to devote to my novel which I am really hoping to complete before Christmas.

Stay well.
