Finally!
My beloved Manchester United Red Devil football club has given manager Erik Ten Hag his walking papers after guiding the team down as low as we have ever been in the Premier League.
I never cared for the man, I admit, but he never really did anything during his tenure that changed my opinion of him that he was unable to deal with his different players’ personalities and keep a happy, PRODUCTIVE squad on the pitch.
Ten Hag leaned too heavily on his reputation in guiding Ajax to multiple titles, but my dog Bruiser, who is currently scratching his balls, has won as many Premier League titles as has Ten Hag.
And he has more hair.
It was always something with his “reign.”
He comes in, and to prove a point and show how long his Johnson is, he arrives and unceremoniously disrespects and discards a Manchester United all-time legend and world icon Ronaldo instead of utilizing his vast wealth of knowledge to help build the young and existing pool of talent from the squad and their famed Academy.
But not just Ronaldo.
He accepts so much money from the Saudis that only a few people on this entire planet can understand and comprehend.
Jadon Sancho leaves, goes to Dortmund in the Bundesliga and lights up the world stage, whereas Ten Hag’s inept match plans and an offense that was everything but productive floundered.
I think the organization failed striker Anthony Martial but that’s a story for another time.
Marcus Rashford looks unmotivated and I believe his best days are over. His body language is that of resignation; I don’t see the fire that once burned in his eyes, and I am hoping he can get it back.
The changes that need to happen at Old Trafford are deeper than the manager, however.
Much deeper.
There is no on-field leadership and this goes directly to Bruno Fernandes, the brilliant midfielder-wannabe striker. Other than taking penalties and free kicks, the only way he distinguishes himself as captain is his black armband.
He’s got to hold his teammates accountable and drive them to perform at a higher level, a Manchester United level
Our front line can put the ball in the net, but our defense still sucks.
Lisandro Martinez arrived as a star for Argentina and immediately showed his quality. However, he has not sustained his level of play. Every so often he’ll display his skills, but he needs to go hard all match long.
Harry Maguire has to know where the bodies are buried to still be drawing a paycheck from MUFC.
He’s slow, inept, and I can jump higher than he can.
And I’m an amputee.
Garnacho and Hojlund are the real deal, but Bruno needs to feed them and keep feeding them.
The first game this squad played after Ten Hag’s departure, and whaddya know?
They score five goals.
Bringing in the successor is a priority, but they also need to find a place for Ruud van Nistelrooy, a former United legend himself. He knows the quality required to succeed on the highest stages with the greatest football club on planet Earth.
Glory United!
Stay well.
