By now, the whole world has seen the disgusting video of the beating, er murder, of another innocent black man at the hands of a lynch mob disguised as police officers in the city of Memphis, TN.
Man’s inhumanity to man.
Not black v. white; no, black on black.
Go figure.
Like black men don’t have enough to fear from the white cops already.
Perhaps there is more footage to be released in the following days, and what I have seen is horrible, but I thought the L.A. cops’ beating of Rodney King looked much worse on video. Maybe it was because they were all swinging nightsticks and whacking him all over his body. I am totally surprised he even lived through his assault.
Where is next?
You know it’s coming.
There are names of formerly nondescript towns and cities that are now permanently etched in our collective minds due to the violence and death associated with them.
Columbine.
Sandy Hook.
Uvalde.
Monterrey Park.
The mass shooting thing is now totally out of hand. If I understand correctly, a shooting of at least four persons qualifies and nationwide, we are suffering a couple a month.
What the hell is this?
Lord of the Flies?
Aren’t we supposed to be better than this after all this time?
We don’t need a World War III to bring about our own demise; just leave us to our own devices. We’ll annihilate ourselves. We will each of us, become defensive to the point of senseless violence. We will withdraw into our own personal beliefs, driven by our own biases, fears, and prejudices, and anyone who does not follow along with our way of thinking isn’t just wrong.
It is an attack by them on our person and our set of values, and everything we believe in is wrong.

Karen is always busting my chops because before we made the move from Phoenix, Arizona, back east to be closer to her family, I told her I wanted to find my own little Mayberry to retire in.
I found it and I love living here in Miamisburg. I don’t even think there are five cops on the entire police force.
Here’s a thought.
Militarize the police.
Air Force-Army-Navy–Marines-Coast Guard-Police.
Use the Military Code of Justice on criminals and see how frivolous and carefree crooks go about their business.
Here’s two words.
Firing squad.
Here’s two more words.
Military weaponry.
Getting caught used to be the biggest downside to crime, but now, just making it to the police station in one piece is the challenge. If they can make it alive to a cell, they have a great shot at getting off scot-free with our weak-ass judicial system.
I hope to never see another example of barbarism like Tyre Nichols’ but I said that thirty years ago after I saw the horrific thrashing of Rodney King.
We’ll do it again.
Count on it.
