These three little words have spelled death for yet another victim, this time an eighteen year-old high school kid celebrating his graduation by taking someone up on a dare and jumping into the dark, shark-infested waters of the Bahamas.
Dead.
His whole life ahead of him (anyone who is not dead has their whole life ahead of them) and he gets drunk and his ticket is punched and the ride has stopped.
Breaks my heart.
It is not spoken, but the implication is crystalline; whenever someone posts a video showing a jump, dive, flight, or any other physical feat, the Epilogue is “Top this! I dare you.”
And people die.
A woman won forty-three million dollars on a slot machine, but instead of getting the cash, she was offered a steak dinner because the casino said the jackpot was due to a “malfunction” by the slot machines.
That better have been one hell of a good-tasting steak is all I’ve got to say.
I keep hearing that there is an impending sense of real action coming up in the form of an offensive in the USSR-Ukraine war. However, in the meantime, Russia keeps the heat on Kyiv and other cities. They best turn the impending part into some action—now.
And just to show you that greed and avarice are not just American constructs, that dumb son of a bitch Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal (try saying that backwards three times, I dare you) is pushing for more.
More hydroelectric investment as well as the addition of more air routes throughout India.
But that’s not all .
There will come more crime.
More graft.
More corruption.
I have to say that my Manchester United Reds lost the FA Cup Final today, but all the match really did was highlight the gap that exists between Manchester City’s powder-blue faggots and the rest of the Premier League members. Even the Arsenal Gunners who held the lead for most of the season, succumbed in predictable fashion to City down the stretch.
Maybe next year.
Seems like I say it every year.
People ask me where I get my ideas for stories or for my daily blogs, for that matter, and I check both the Red and Blue news feeds and then I look at sports. Then I look at US news because most of my readership is in the USA, with a surprisingly high number of followers in Europe.
Do you remember the last time you put in a hard day’s work for a good day’s pay, went home to a happy, safe family, ate a great meal, and went to bed with your sense of self-worth intact, eager to start it all up the next day?
Do you remember the last time that you uttered the phrase The United States is the greatest and most powerful country on the planet?
And said it with a straight face?
Right.
Thought so.
Same here.
But as Miss Scarlet might say, “Tomorrow is another day…”
Stay well.
