Ask the Wizard

It’s about an hour away from the president’s State of the Union address and I am awaiting it with the same anticipation I had when waiting for the next Jerry Lewis movie in the 50’s and 60’s—I couldn’t wait to see what that zany whackenheimer was going to say or do next…

{NOTE: since I post this blog at 2 pm EST every day in the USA, the State of the Union addy was given last night).

What follows is my observation of the address and my own comments (some brilliant and some absurd) ts from my keen observations.

So to set the stage for all you method actors: imagine driving by a cow manure processing plant on a hot, stagnant Oklahoma day…

No wind.

Lots of fresh manure.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the President of the United States…

As I listened to his speech, I really wanted to go see this country he was describing:

Full coffers, no national debt and to hear him describe this country, every day in America is like living in Las Vegas with unlimited funds.

With zero crime.

With a “movie star” wife.

With affordable housing.

With equal opportunities for all.

With low-interest rate loans.

I want to go live there.

Because he wasn’t describing the same country I live in.

Watching the Nazis, er Republicans, stand time after time for Trump’s self-lovefest, the smattering of Democrats that could be bothered to attend smirked in disdain and shook their heads in disbelief.

They remained seated for most of the night.

I think that after about twenty standing ovations, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson just kept standing to fuck with Vice President JD Vance.

Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic senator from the great state of Massachusetts stood and applauded when President Trump proposed a law he wanted get passed to prevent members of Congress from profiting from stock insider information.

Of course she stood and applauded.

She is a very classy woman and savvy politician who would be fearless to “reach across the aisle” to gain bi-partisan support for legislature that would benefit the American people.

Truth be told, probably the best one we have.

And it is a great proposal.

She could have boycotted the speech like many of her colleagues.

Or started up her own alternative “speech “critique” show.

Or held up a sign and loudly interrupted the proceedings.

But that would be down there in the gutter where he has home-field advantage.

And she has too much respect for the United States Constitution, the political process, and the principles of democracy, and yes, the presidency, to do something like that.

And it’s not presidential.

The female population of this country had a golden opportunity to elect the very first female president if only ex-president Joe Biden hadn’t started losing it and appointed Elizabeth Warren to be his Vice President instead of Kamala Harris who has all the political presence of a cheese grater.

I think after four years of experience in the White House, Vice President Warren could have easily won the 2024 election.

Against whomever.

But that’s just what I think.

Stay well.
