I used to be.
Before I grew up.
Then life kicked in and reality produced broken promises, broken bones, and even broken hearts.
Definitely not cool.
Fear is not a weakness; in fact, healthy fears are a sign of intelligence and lessons learned rather than an uncertainty of the unknown. (this weed is very good).
One (of the many) dumbass things about me is that I still think I am going to be able to golf again before I die.
Even as I sit, confined to these two wheels, I dream of being first off the morning tee and taking in the fairway with the last of the morning mist lifting slowly.
Viewing the fairway like it was my personal kingdom and imagining trading BS with my departed Dad and sucking down triple-strength Bloody Mary’s.
Money.
I’ve committed to playing a special Veteran’s Day party at a different nursing home next month and I learned Billy Ray Cyrus’ Some Gave All and quite honestly, if I suddenly remember any one of the people I have met on this journey that have suffered or been affected by a military death I have a hard time getting through the song without choking up.
Mad respect to vets.
From ANY war.
Fearlessness is often confused with bravado. I don’t think so. Bravado requires a knowledge that your actions are not resolute and you aren’t expecting anything.
It can also be confused with heroism, but there are so many cases of ordinary people performing extraordinary acts of heroism and they are the last to characterize their actions as “heroic.”
Fearlessness led me to the many-colored coat that was my working career.
I looked at every job I ever performed as an actor might.
New location, a new cast, a new role, a new title, new props, new instructions and rules to follow and adjust to as needed; I honestly never had a job I didn’t like.
Fearlessness also put me in this wheelchair I type from. Now, in my case (several cases, actually) it was stupidity (or alcohol or drugs), but most of the physical damage I inflicted on myself was done by the time I turned 30.
I really hope today’s children are forearmed with a different kind of fearlessness:
The will and fight to overcome their many obstacles to gain their equal and rightful share of peace and happiness on this planet.
So much for Pussy Pedro Hegseth, Secretary of Losing Wars and his brainstorm to live stream an execution to the American people.
The president has cancelled it.
Meanwhile his buddy Putin and Russia continue to get their asses kicked by Ukraine.
I’m sure both Greenland and Canada are rolling their eyes as our corpulent president has once again started up his insane blather about making them states of our nation.
His antics have some states regretting they are part of this nation and what it has devolved into.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has had enough..
In a move that I’m sure will do nothing to help bring gas prices down, he has told trump to forget about any deal to stop his crippling drone attacks on Russian oil refineries.
Like many of us, he’s tired of being lied to.
If we don’t hear back from them it will be because that horse’s ass mad scientist Elon “Musky Muskrat” Musk has blocked their ability to access to his satellites providing internet access.
Musk is another one that is going to hell.
But not before one of his own Artificial Intelligence bots finds a way to empty out the money from every one of his and every member of the trump families’ accounts.
That would be cool.
Stay well.
